Speech pathologist commonly known as speech therapists are crucial in evaluating, identifying and managing disorders of communication and swallowing. They diagnose clients with tests and observations, assess the potential client’s need for services and set up interventions in compliance with professional and state guidelines, they diagnose, screen, assess potential clients and provide speech therapy aimed at speech intelligibility, language development and social interaction. Further, they inform and teach clients, families on communication disorders and work in consultation with other professionals to provide care. Thus, offering potentially preventive programs especially for asocial individuals, speech pathologists contribute to improving direct communication and overall quality of life of patients.
